Mortal Fear by Robin Cook

This novel seemed to be comparatively longer, and the author nicely builds the suspense, though, I was able to guess the surprise villain a few pages earlier than it was revealed in the story.

It deals with molecular genetics. A molecular geneticist who was actually working to find a way to slow down the ageing process by finding the gene responsible for ageing and stopping it, instead ends up accidentally discovering the protein that would activate the ‘death’ gene which would speed up the ageing process so drastically, that a middle aged person would die within 3 to 4 weeks!

The plot is very interesting. There’s a vicious psychopath to cause the chills in the story too.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
